Christian Lindner
About Christian Lindner
Christian Lindner was born in Wuppertal in 1979 and studied political science, constitutional law and philosophy in Bonn. Before entering politics he founded an advertising agency and was a partner in a startup. He served as German Federal Minister of Finance from 2021 to 2024.
After politics he works as an entrepreneur. His website lists a role as deputy chairman of the board of AUTOLAND AG, and a separate section on his activity as an angel investor. He invests through his own holding company, based in Hamburg according to press reports.
Because he is a former government member, Lindner needed federal government approval for new activities. Press reports said the approval came in 2025 and allowed his holding company to invest in startups from November 2025, with first deals expected in December.
He has said he was once a founder himself and wants to give teams capital, experience and contacts. He said he planned to invest alongside funds and other angels. His public portfolio is young. The AI deals reported so far date from 2026.
In September 2026 Lindner took part as an angel in Zeit AI's EUR 5M seed round. Zeit AI is a Munich-based startup building an autonomous data analyst and data engineer for mid-sized European companies. Y Combinator, Oxford Seed Fund, Sequoia Capital Scout Fund, ACE Ventures and Hasso Plattner VC also took part.
He also joined Limetax's pre-seed round in 2026. Limetax is a Berlin company that acquires German tax and accounting firms and runs its own agentic AI platform inside them. Its EUR 36M total is EUR 6M of pre-seed equity, led by Motive Partners, plus a EUR 30M bank credit facility. The equity is the part investors put in.
He is also an angel investor and advisory board member at Leegle, a Munich startup with an AI platform that turns regulatory requirements into tasks. The company described it as one of his first startup investments after leaving office.
Lindner says he supports teams in early phases and companies with growth ambitions. In a Gründerszene interview he said he chooses regardless of industry and idea, and is convinced by the people and teams. His disclosed AI investments are in enterprise data, tax and accounting automation and regulatory technology, mostly at German startups. No check size or fund size is public.
