About Dan Tyre

Background

Dan Tyre was the sixth employee and first salesperson at HubSpot and spent more than 17 years there, according to Stage 2 Capital. His work covered inbound sales, demand generation, marketing, customer success and operations. He ran the HubSpot Small Business Division, helped start the HubSpot for Startups program in 2010 and was involved in creating the HubSpot Partner program in 2008.

In an interview he said he has founded five startups over about 40 years. Of the first three, one grew to an IPO, one he co-founded and ran as CEO grew to $30 million in revenue before a sale, and one went bankrupt. He is credited with coining the term "Smarketing" for sales and marketing alignment.

He is the founder and CEO of Tyre Angel, which Stage 2 describes as an investment company. He is also a limited partner at Stage 2 Capital and an operating partner at Stage 2 Capital Catalyst. He holds a BA in Political Science from Colgate University and is based in the Phoenix, Arizona area.
