James Park
About James Park
James Park is an American technology entrepreneur who studied computer science at Harvard College and dropped out. Before Fitbit he co-founded Epesi Technologies, a B2B infrastructure software company where he was CTO, and he founded Wind-Up Labs, an online photo-sharing company. He later worked as Director of Product Development at CNET Networks, leading Webshots.
Park co-founded Fitbit with Eric Friedman and served as its CEO and president from September 2007. He became chairman in 2015. Google acquired Fitbit in January 2021, and Park stayed on at Google as Vice President and General Manager of Fitbit.
Press reports say he left Google in 2024. In early 2026 he and Friedman announced Luffu, an AI-powered family health platform. It combines data from connected devices, manual inputs and apps such as Apple Health.
Public investor databases list Park as an individual angel investor, but the counts differ. Crunchbase shows 22 investments and Tracxn shows 17 portfolio companies. PitchBook lists 22 investments and 2 exits. These figures are aggregator data, not statements from Park.
The most recent deals in these databases are a seed round in Curacel (February 2023) and a PitchBook entry for Awesomic dated March 2023. Tracxn also lists HoyTrabajas in October 2022. Dates and round sizes on these sites are not always complete.
Park appears as an angel in the 2021 seed round of Awesomic. Wikipedia describes the company as an AI startup that runs a marketplace matching businesses with remote designers, engineers and marketers. StartupList Africa tags Curacel under Artificial Intelligence. As an operator, his current company Luffu is built around AI for health data. We found no public list of his AI angel investments beyond these.
Data aggregators put his deals at pre-seed, seed and Series A. Tracxn lists his top sectors as enterprise applications and fintech, plus several others. Geographies include the United States, the United Kingdom, Chile, India and Mexico. Park has not publicly stated a check size or a formal thesis that we could find, so none is given here.
