About Kyle Hanslovan

Background

Kyle Hanslovan is co-founder and CEO of Huntress, a cybersecurity company. Crunchbase lists him in Jacksonville, Florida. Wikipedia says he served in the Maryland Air National Guard from 2010 to 2019, with the 175th Cyberspace Operations Group. Huntress's own bio says he spent a decade supporting offensive cyber operations in the US Intelligence Community and Air Force. As a ManTech contractor he led computer network operations development and testing for the NSA, and he later co-founded the defense contractor StrategicIO.

Huntress was founded in 2015 by Hanslovan, Chris Bisnett and John Ferrell, all former NSA cyber operators. The core technology was first built inside StrategicIO to detect malicious footholds and persistence mechanisms. Hanslovan has been CEO since the start. In a SaaS Club podcast he said Huntress's first outside money was a $750,000 convertible-note seed round from an angel group, about two and a half years after founding. A recent event announcement says he has raised more than $350 million in venture capital for Huntress.

Huntress sells to managed service providers (MSPs) and small and mid-sized businesses. Hanslovan has also been a CompTIA cybersecurity advisory council member (April 2020 to October 2024), according to a profile aggregator.

Angel investing track record

Hanslovan's public angel record is short. Crunchbase shows one personal investment, the IntelliGRC seed round. He appears to be a founder-operator who invests occasionally, not a high-volume angel. No fund, syndicate or investment thesis of his own has been published that we could find.

AI investments

IntelliGRC is his one confirmed AI-related investment. It raised a $3.5M seed round that closed on January 31, 2026 and was announced in March 2026. Hanslovan, as co-founder and CEO of Huntress, and Blu Ventures co-led the round. Blu Ventures took a board seat through venture partner Marcos Torres, a former Huntress CFO.

IntelliGRC is based in Fairfax, Virginia. It builds a governance, risk and compliance platform for MSPs and MSSPs, using AI-driven automation, continuous control monitoring and automated evidence collection. The company said it would use the funds to expand its AI capabilities and its Intelligent Control Library, add integrations across the MSP ecosystem, and grow its sales, customer success and enablement teams.

Investment focus

The only public data point is a seed-stage cybersecurity compliance company selling into the MSP channel, a market Hanslovan knows from running Huntress. He has not published a check size, target stage or sector list. His public writing on founders focuses on speed. On X he said he often tells aspiring founders they are chasing perfection and failing to ship, and he credits Huntress's iteration speed to being minimum, viable and consistent.
