About Marc Bitzer
Marc Bitzer is a German-born business executive based in the US. He is chairman and chief executive officer of Whirlpool Corporation. He holds an MBA from the University of St. Gallen and began his career as a management consultant at Boston Consulting Group, where he was a vice president when he left in 1999.
He joined Whirlpool in 1999. Before becoming CEO he led its European business (president, 2006 to 2009), its U.S. business (president, 2009 to 2013) and its EMEA division (2013 to 2016), and later served as president and chief operating officer. Crunchbase lists him as Whirlpool CEO since October 2017. Crunchbase also lists a CEO role at American Dryer Corp. The telli announcement describes him as a supervisory board member at BMW.
Crunchbase lists two personal investments for Marc Bitzer, atira and telli. Both are 2026 seed rounds in which he took part as an individual angel alongside institutional leads. He is not a full-time investor, and no fund, syndicate or check size is public.
atira (September 2026): the Munich company builds an AI platform that automates industrial sales engineering, including RFQ processing and bid documentation. Press reports say it raised a $15M seed round led by Accel, plus a previously undisclosed $2.5M pre-seed. Bitzer is named among the industry investors.
telli (July 2026): the Berlin company builds AI for customer-facing operations and communication. Its $15M seed round (EUR 13.1M on the Lounge deals desk) was led by redalpine, with Cherry Ventures and Y Combinator as existing backers. The company names Bitzer among its angels.
Both known investments are seed-stage AI companies in Germany. They sell to large operating businesses: industrial manufacturers (atira) and B2C companies with high conversation volume (telli). Bitzer has not published a thesis, a check size or a statement on what he looks for. Two deals are too few to treat as a pattern, but the overlap with enterprise operations fits his career in manufacturing and consumer goods.
- atira: AI orchestration platform for industrial sales engineering, based in Munich. Seed round led by Accel, announced September 2026.
- telli: AI-native customer operations platform for B2C companies, based in Berlin. Seed round led by redalpine, announced July 2026.
