About Tomas Kratky
Tomas Kratky is a former software developer, data engineer and consultant with more than 20 years of experience building large data and AI-driven systems for enterprises. Before Manta, he was one of four owners of Profinit, a Czech software house, where he held an executive role covering product, marketing and research. He also taught software engineering for over a decade at Charles University and Czech Technical University in Prague.
He founded Manta in 2015 and served as CEO for eight years. Manta built an enterprise data lineage platform and, according to his conference bio, grew to close to 150 customers, mostly Fortune 500 companies.
In October 2023 he sold Manta to IBM. His conference bio says he now works in IBM's Data and AI division, supporting customers across EMEA.
The only angel investment we could confirm from public sources is SuperPlane's pre-seed round in June 2026. Crunchbase lists him as an investor in that round. Several press reports and SuperPlane's own announcement name him as an angel, identified as the founder of Manta. We did not find a public list of his other angel investments, so none are listed here.
SuperPlane raised a pre-seed round announced on June 24, 2026. Reports give the amount as €2.28M, or $2.6M in USD. Credo Ventures led, with First Momentum Ventures participating. The angels included Mirko Novakovic of Dash0, Andreas Klinger of Prototype Capital and Tomas Kratky.
SuperPlane is building an open-source automation engine and AI-first control plane. Human engineers and AI agents use it to work together on production infrastructure workflows.
There is no public statement from Tomas Kratky on his check size, preferred stage or what he looks for in founders. The one confirmed deal is a pre-seed round in AI-driven DevOps and platform engineering tooling, in a company based in San Francisco. His operating background is in enterprise data infrastructure, data lineage and metadata. That background suggests he may be a useful angel for infrastructure and data founders, but this is our inference and not something he has said.
