Bastiaan Quast is the founder and CEO of Valiq Security, a company he started in 2024 that trains foundation models from scratch. He holds a PhD in development economics from The Graduate Institute, Geneva, worked as an economist at the ITU, and wrote the R packages rnn and decompr. Bastiaan is now building llama.go, a small Go inference engine compiled to WASM that runs AI models in the browser.
