About Greg Jensen

Background

Greg Jensen is Co-Chief Investment Officer at Bridgewater Associates and sits on the firm's board of directors. He joined Bridgewater in 1996 after graduating from Dartmouth College with a degree in Economics and Applied Mathematics.

At Bridgewater he oversees investment strategies and research. That includes turning the firm's research into trading strategies and developing its proprietary investment models. He has been a key author of the firm's Daily Observations since 1996. From 2010 to 2016 he also served as Bridgewater's Co-CEO.

Angel investing track record

Little is public about Jensen's personal investments. Crunchbase lists one, a seed round in Multiplier. The companies below are the ones named in press coverage. They are not a complete list.

AI investments

According to AI Street, Jensen became an early investor in OpenAI around 2016. The same report says he wrote Anthropic's first outside check after researchers he knew left OpenAI to start the company. The Anthropic claim comes from his own account.

In 2023 Bridgewater created AIA Labs, a unit that builds what the firm calls an artificial investor. Jensen leads that effort. In August 2026 Multiplier announced a $6M seed round led by Lux Capital. Jensen took part as an individual investor, alongside fellow Bridgewater Co-CIO Karen Karniol-Tambour.

Investment focus

The reported investments are in AI, either model developers (OpenAI, Anthropic) or AI tools for investment management (Multiplier). The Multiplier round was seed stage. Jensen has not publicly stated a check size, stage preference or geography for angel investing.

In public interviews he has said that using large language models alone to pick stocks is a poor approach. He has also said that combining them with statistical models could help investors.
