About Maria Raga
Maria Raga began her career at Bain and then ran Travel at Groupon. She joined Depop as VP Operations and became CEO in 2016, a role she held until 2022. According to Creandum, Depop grew to more than 30 million users and over 400 employees under her, and Etsy acquired it for $1.6bn in 2021.
She announced her departure from Depop in 2022 on LinkedIn, saying she wanted to take a break and spend more time with her family. She is an INSEAD alumna and is based in London.
She later joined Creandum as a Venture Partner, where the firm said she would help it find consumer winners and advise portfolio companies on organisation and culture. She also sits on the Digital Advisory Council at ITV.
Creandum describes her as a prolific angel investor and names Trip, LOCI, OMADA, Clipdrop and Transak among her investments. Crunchbase lists Trip funding rounds in 2021 in which she invested alongside Christian Angermayer. It also shows 14 personal investments.
While she was Depop CEO, she invested in the seed round of the traveltech company Journee, alongside Depop founder Simon Beckerman. Tracxn lists her as an investor in the March 2022 seed round of Super Payments and the November 2024 Series A of Fleek.
Creandum lists Clipdrop, an AI image tool, among her angel investments and notes that Stability AI acquired it. In May 2026 she took part as an angel in District's $14.7M seed round. District is an AI commerce platform founded by former Snap product and engineering leaders Eddie Koai, Patrick Mandia and Khoi Tran. Andreessen Horowitz and Kindred Ventures led the round. Fortune and Business Wire both named her among the participating angels.
On LinkedIn she has also shared posts from a series called CxAI about AI in online commerce, including one on retail personalisation.
Her public investing record centres on consumer, retail, e-commerce and marketplace companies. Most of it is in the UK, Europe and the US. NFX Signal ranks her in Seed E-commerce and London Marketplaces. It lists her investment range as $5K to $50K, with a sweet spot of $25K.
