Wang Huiwen
About Wang Huiwen
Wang Huiwen was born in 1978 in Dalian and holds a bachelor's degree in electronic engineering from Tsinghua University. He is a serial internet entrepreneur. He co-founded the social network Xiaonei, which became Renren, and later founded Laidian and Taofang. In 2010 he joined Meituan, where he is counted as a co-founder.
He resigned as a non-executive director of Meituan in June 2023, citing health reasons. In February 2023 he had founded the AI company Light Year. Meituan announced in late June 2023 that it would acquire Light Year, with total consideration that included $233.7 million in cash.
In November 2024, 36Kr reported that he had returned to Meituan to lead AI work, including a team focused on AI companions and chatbots. The report relied on anonymous sources. Lollapalooza Capital's website says it was founded in 2025 by Huiwen Wang, co-founder of Meituan.
Crunchbase lists five personal investments for Wang Huiwen, with Trooly.AI as the most recent. Tracxn lists a smaller portfolio of one company. The two databases disagree, and only the Trooly.AI deal can be confirmed from the sources reviewed. Check sizes and ownership terms are not public.
Wang Huiwen is listed as an investor in the Trooly.AI seed round, announced in January 2026. Trooly.AI is an AI-native user research platform, founded in 2025, that uses multimodal voice agents to run in-depth interviews. The round was reported at nearly $10 million. BlueRun Ventures led it, and Hillhouse Venture Capital and GL Ventures also took part.
A July 2026 press release for the Trooly product launch describes a seed of nearly $20 million and does not name backers. The relationship between that figure and the earlier round is not explained in the sources.
Public sources do not state a formal investment thesis or check size. Third-party databases tag his deals as Seed, Angel and Series A, with a focus on artificial intelligence, software and infrastructure, mostly in China. Trooly.AI is an early-stage B2B software company. These tags come from aggregators rather than from Wang himself.
