About Zach Shelby

Background

Zach Shelby is an entrepreneur, angel investor and technologist whose work centers on embedded systems, machine learning and the Internet of Things. He holds an M.Sc. (Eng.) from the University of Oulu and a B.Sc. (Eng.) from Michigan Technological University. He spent about ten years as a research scientist and research manager at VTT and the Centre for Wireless Communications before starting a company.

He co-founded Sensinode, where he was CEO and CTO, and Arm acquired it in 2013. At Arm he held roles including VP of developers, VP of marketing and director of technology for IoT. He also co-founded the Micro:bit Foundation and served as its CEO.

In 2019 he left Arm and co-founded Edge Impulse with Jan Jongboom. It is a platform for developing machine learning on embedded and edge devices, and Qualcomm has since acquired it. His LinkedIn profile lists him in Helsinki and shows GitHits as his current experience.
