Starting October 9, free Gemini accounts will get only the Flash-Lite model, AI Plus subscribers ($5/month) lose access to Pro and keep Flash and Flash-Lite, and the Pro model plus Deep Think reasoning move behind the $19.99 AI Pro and Ultra tiers. Google notified affected Plus subscribers by email and updated its support pages rather than posting a public announcement. The move narrows the free on-ramp that drove much of Gemini's consumer growth. Builders relying on free-tier Gemini for demos or user acquisition should expect weaker default model quality for non-paying users.
