Amazon reportedly in talks to buy real-time video model startup Decart for about $7B

The Wall Street Journal reported the talks on Sunday, citing people familiar with the matter. A deal could close soon if talks hold and no rival bidder appears. Decart makes Lucy, a model that edits live video in real time, and Oasis, which generates simulated worlds for training and testing robots and self-driving systems. In May it raised $300M in a round led by Radical Ventures, with Nvidia joining as a new investor. Amazon declined to comment and Decart did not respond. Amazon would not be the first suitor. Bloomberg reported that Anthropic explored a deal worth about $6B in August, then walked away last month after due diligence. This follows a week of reported consolidation talks, including Nvidia's possible move on Reflection AI. For founders, big companies are now paying large premiums for real-time generative video and world models. Labs with distinctive model IP and strong benchmarks are being priced as strategic assets, not just on revenue multiples.
