Cohere signs letter of intent to buy Prague-based AI security startup Aisle, terms undisclosed

The Toronto-based model maker announced the letter of intent on Thursday. Aisle builds AI systems that detect and help fix software vulnerabilities, and says its platform has matched or outperformed competing systems. Cohere CEO Aidan Gomez said Aisle has defended critical open source infrastructure better than many better-known efforts. Cohere says it will combine Aisle's autonomous security research with its own models, and The Logic reports it will set up a new security division. A letter of intent is not a closed deal, and no price was disclosed. The deal follows a year in which labs and startups have raced to apply models to vulnerability discovery, while the same capabilities raised concern over more capable attacks. Cohere has focused on enterprise and government customers, where security credentials weigh heavily in procurement. For founders, it shows model companies buying specialized security teams instead of building from scratch. Startups in AI security tooling should expect more acquirers, and buyers should expect security features bundled into model platforms.
