About Jon Langbert

Background

Jon Langbert is an entrepreneur, investor and board member based in San Diego. According to Legacy Housing's SEC filing, he founded Consolidated Route, a route operator of gaming equipment, in 1995. In 1999 he founded Alight, a VC-backed internet retailer. He later owned Langbert Financial, a privately held factoring company with franchise interests, from 2002 to 2016. From 2016 to 2023 he was president of Plush Suites, an extended-stay hotel concept.

He began his career in finance and accounting at Electronic Data Systems. He has a finance BBA from the University of Texas at Austin and an MBA from Harvard Business School.

On December 18, 2025, Legacy Housing Corporation appointed him chief financial officer. Before that, the filing says he advised and invested in early-stage companies. A Tech&AI Investors Alliance event listing also describes him as an executive vice president of business development at AgTechLogic, an AI precision-agriculture company.

Angel investing track record

A November 2025 event listing says he had invested in more than 150 early-stage businesses. On LinkedIn he describes launching the Seneca syndicate on AngelList after several years of angel investing and mentoring. The syndicate invests in early-stage companies, with backers able to join from $1,000. The event listing says Seneca donates all its profits to charity.

In an October 2025 Forbes interview, he said he had made roughly one investment per week over the previous four years. He also said he mentors the founders he backs.

AI investments

Langbert is named as an angel in the $3.6M seed round of Zalos, announced in March 2026. Zalos builds Computer Agents that operate finance systems the way finance teams do. 14 Peaks led the round, with Cohen Circle, 20VC and a group of angels. Coverage of the round lists him as the founder of Alight. He also wrote on LinkedIn that he was an early customer of Zalos, and that his team at Legacy used several of its tools.

Investment focus

Langbert focuses on the earliest stages, from startups through seed-stage companies. He has said he prefers founders who are not yet polished. In his words to Forbes, a founder with a polished pitch has probably been through Y Combinator or Techstars and is likely past the point where he can help.

On check size, he told Forbes he settled on a maximum of $5,000 after several years of calibration. He also said he caps his "wacky investments" at 10% of his portfolio. He said he does not want to do formal due diligence. These statements are from October 2025. Since then he has taken a full-time CFO role.
