About Matt Huang
Matt Huang is co-founder and Managing Partner of Paradigm, a San Francisco investment firm focused on crypto and other frontier technology. He holds a B.S. in Mathematics from MIT.
He founded Hotspots in 2010 while at MIT. Hotspots was a Y Combinator company that analyzed social media data, and Twitter acquired it in 2012. He then worked at Twitter before joining Sequoia Capital as a partner, where he served from February 2014 to June 2018. At Sequoia he focused on early-stage internet and mobile investments and led the firm's crypto efforts.
He co-founded Paradigm in 2018 with Fred Ehrsam, a Coinbase co-founder. He also sits on the boards of Stripe and Kalshi. He is founder and project lead of Tempo, a payments network co-founded by Paradigm and Stripe.
Paradigm's team page lists Huang as an early investor in ByteDance, Instacart and Benchling. Earlier bios describe him as a personal seed investor in Toutiao (ByteDance's news app) and Instacart. Investment years and personal check sizes for these angel deals are not public.
Huang was a named participant in Enclave's $6M seed round, announced in March 2026 and led by 8VC. Enclave is a Tel Aviv-based company building AI-driven code security so developers can ship code without security bottlenecks. Other named participants included Patrick Collison, Aaron Levie, Diane Greene, Jeremy Stoppelman and Marc Benioff.
On X, Huang has described Paradigm's fourth fund as $1.2B to invest and build in crypto, AI, robotics and other areas of the technical frontier.
Paradigm is the main vehicle for his investing. VC Sheet lists the firm's stages as Seed to Series A, with sectors including crypto, fintech, developer tools, gaming and AI. It also lists a firm-level range of $1M to $100M per investment. That range is the firm's, not Huang's personal angel check size, which he has not stated publicly.
Paradigm describes itself as a group of builders that supports other builders. It runs an annual Paradigm Fellowship, a retreat for young people who are strong at something technical. No public statement from Huang on a personal angel thesis was found.
