Robert Trezona
About Robert Trezona
Robert Trezona (Rob) is a London-based investor with a PhD in materials science from Cambridge. He started his career in 2000 as a hydrogen and fuel cell scientist at Imperial College London and Johnson Matthey. He then led the fuel cell technical team at Ceres Power. His other earlier roles were strategy consulting at McKinsey and Head of R&D at the Carbon Trust.
He joined IP Group in 2011 to set up its cleantech division, and in 2012 he led IP Group's turnaround investment in Ceres. In 2022 he became a founding partner of Kiko Ventures, IP Group's climate tech platform, where he sits on the investment committee and sets strategy. He is also a commissioner of the Energy Transitions Commission.
A press profile describes him as the former cleantech lead at IP Group and the founder of Kiko, and says he leads climate deals at Kembara, a deep tech fund that reported a first close on a $1 billion growth fund.
Most of his public investing record is institutional, through IP Group and Kiko. The one angel round we found in press coverage is Twin1 AI's seed in August 2026, where he was named among the participating angels. Other angel investments, cheque sizes and dates are not public.
Twin1 AI announced a $20M seed round on August 20, 2026. Bessemer Venture Partners, Tribeca Venture Partners and Aramco Ventures co-led it. Twin1 builds AI-powered digital twins for professional knowledge workers and sells to legal, financial services and energy firms. Trezona was listed as an angel, and one outlet described him as a prominent climate tech investor. His AI exposure outside Twin1 is not publicly documented. One of his board seats, 8power, applies machine learning to rotating equipment monitoring.
His public focus is early-stage climate and deep tech companies built on scientific breakthroughs, often hardware and often university spin-outs. Sectors named in his work include fuel cells, fusion, hydrogen, batteries and carbon capture, mainly in the UK and Europe. Kiko describes itself as a $450m evergreen platform. No personal cheque size is public.
The Twin1 investment shows he will also back enterprise AI at seed alongside institutional leads.
