Busabase: The general system of record for AI agents
The project is written in TypeScript under the MIT license, with 401 GitHub stars and 2 contributors at last count. Running `npx busabase server` opens a local dashboard with embedded PGlite, local file storage, and a demo workspace. Agents connect through MCP, OpenAPI, and a CLI, and the company says 40+ external agents are supported, Claude Code and Codex among them. Records, docs, skills and apps all sit in one workspace as typed objects. Agent writes can go through Change Requests, field-level diffs, comments, approvals, commits, and audit trails, so a person can approve a change before it lands. A desktop app is available for macOS, Windows, and Linux. Today, agent context often sits in per-repo files like CLAUDE.md or in stores tied to one vendor, and it gets lost when teams switch tools. Busabase is betting that companies will run several agents side by side and need one reviewable place to keep their output. For founders, the signal is that shared state and governance are becoming a contested layer separate from the model.
