About Sachin Katti

Background

Sachin Katti earned a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering from IIT Bombay in 2003. He then completed a master's degree and a PhD at MIT. He was a professor of electrical engineering and computer science at Stanford for nearly 15 years, working on networking, cloud infrastructure and edge computing.

He co-founded Kumu Networks in 2011 to commercialize full-duplex radio technology from his Stanford research. Tracxn also lists him as founder of Uhana, a software-defined mobile networks company started in 2016 that was later acqui-hired.

Katti joined Intel in 2021 and first headed its networking group. In April 2025 he became Intel's chief technology officer and chief AI officer. In late 2025 he joined OpenAI to work on its compute infrastructure. Crunchbase lists his title there as Vice President of Compute Strategy and GPT-Infra. Press reports say he is set to step down from that role and stay on as an adviser.

The recorded deals are early stage: seed rounds in Standard Kernel, Hakimo and Sycamore. Tracxn tags his investments as Enterprise Applications and High Tech, all in the United States. His most recent public AI deal is in AI infrastructure and systems software, which matches his background in networking, compute and chips. PitchBook lists him as actively seeking new investments. We found no public statement from Katti on his thesis or check size.
